The Stats Café is hosted by Rosanna (Zan) Milligan, and is primarily for students and staff in the Department of Marine and Environmental Sciences who need help or ideas on how to run data analyses for a project, thesis, or research paper.The sessions are set up to allow discussion in an informal, collaborative setting with students and staff about anything and everything related to ecological data exploration and analysis, including: How to analyze your thesis data; Learning about modern data analysis methods (from frequentist statistics to machine learning); Getting advice on how to tackle common data problems.
If you have a particular topic or case study you'd like to learn more about, you can also request a more focused "workshop" session. Potential topics include (but are certainly not limited to): quality-checking your data, preparing your data for R, exploratory analyses and visualization in R, running analyses, validating analyses, preparing data and results for publication / theses.
