About
Ana Imia Fins, PhD, earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Miami. Her training has focused primarily on Health Psychology, with clinical and research interests spanning behavioral sleep medicine, coping with life-threatening illness, and ethical practices in health service psychology.
Clinically, Dr. Fins provides training and supervision in behavioral sleep medicine, with an emphasis on the assessment and treatment of insomnia. Her recent research has examined the emotional and physiological consequences of sleep restriction and poor-quality sleep among healthy individuals. Although centered on non-clinical populations, this work has clear clinical relevance, as the patterns of disrupted sleep and daytime impairment that emerge under sleep-restricted conditions closely resemble those reported by patients with insomnia. In addition, Dr. Fins teaches ethics to first-year clinical psychology graduate students, and this instructional role is informing a growing line of research for her that focuses on ethics training among psychology trainees.
