Aya Shigeto, Ph.D. is a developmental psychologist who employs both quantitative and qualitative methods in her research. Her primary focus is on sexuality (sexual health and sexual violence) among college students/emerging adults (ages 18-29) and sex education on college campuses. Additionally, she explores various aspects of family relationships and functioning, such as parenting and family dynamics. Her recent projects integrate both research areas, investigating how family relationships influence emerging adults' sexual decision-making. Passionate about cultural studies, Dr. Shigeto incorporates cultural perspectives into her research whenever possible.
