Dr. Barbara Garcia‑Lavin is a licensed clinical psychologist with more than two decades of experience in assessment, clinical training leadership, and graduate education. She is an Associate Professor in the College of Psychology at Nova Southeastern University, where she teaches in the clinical psychology doctoral programs and provides clinical and research supervision. She trained as a clinical neuropsychologist with a PhD from NSU, she has advanced expertise in autism spectrum disorder assessment, clinical training and supervision, and APA accreditation.

She previously served as Director of Clinical Training, co‑leading the successful 10‑year APA reaccreditation of NSU’s PhD and PsyD programs and directed two APA‑accredited internship programs overseeing curriculum, supervision, and accreditation compliance. Clinically, she has served diverse populations across developmental disabilities, severe emotional disturbance, neurological disorders, and health conditions in hospitals, county, and university systems.

Her scholarship spans autism, clinical training and supervision, multicultural competence, and health psychology, supported by roles on multiple funded research projects and numerous peer‑reviewed publications and national presentations.
