Dr. Elizabeth Sherman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and an HIV Clinical Pharmacy Specialist providing clinical service for the Memorial Healthcare System Division of Infectious Disease. At the College of Pharmacy, Dr. Sherman lectures on antiviral agent pharmacotherapy, coordinates the Integrated Disease Management course in infectious diseases, and precepts advanced pharmacy practice experience rotation students on six-week HIV rotations. In the clinic, Dr. Sherman works closely with a multidisciplinary team of infectious disease clinicians as a clinical pharmacist with expertise in antiretroviral resistance, drug interactions, and medication adherence. She also serves as faculty for the Southeast AIDS Education and Training Center, part of a network of training centers financed by the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program, and on the Board of Directors for the HIV Medicine Association. She is both section editor and author for the book HIV Pharmacotherapy: The Pharmacist's Role in Care and Treatment published by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP), and co-author of ASHP Guidelines on Pharmacist Involvement in HIV Care (jointly endorsed by the American Academy of HIV Medicine). Dr. Sherman received her Doctor of Pharmacy from Nova Southeastern University, completed a pharmacy practice residency at The Brooklyn Hospital Center, a specialty residency in HIV/AIDS at the University of California San Francisco, and is credentialed as an HIV Pharmacist by the American Academy of HIV Medicine. Dr. Sherman’s clinical research interests focus on improving antiretroviral medication adherence and advancing patient care by promoting pharmacy services in the primary care setting.
