About

Georgina Argüello is Associate Professor and Assistant Dean in the Abraham S. Fischler College of Education and School of Criminal Justice at Nova Southeastern University (NSU). With over two decades of progressive leadership in higher education, she operates at the intersection of academic administration, program innovation, and applied scholarship, with a focus on expanding access and success for graduate student populations.

Dr. Argüello provides strategic leadership for graduate academic programs, overseeing curriculum design, faculty development, and student success initiatives across master’s and doctoral offerings. She has led comprehensive program redesign efforts, most notably the transformation of the Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) into a practice-based, scaffolded Strategic Research Project (SRP) model. This work integrates applied research, innovation, and professional practice throughout the curriculum and reflects a broader commitment to aligning academic programs with workforce needs, accreditation standards, and evolving models of doctoral education.

A key component of her leadership is the development of integrated advising and mentoring systems designed to improve student persistence, progression, and completion. Dr. Argüello has advanced a model that combines faculty mentorship, professional advising, and technology-enabled support, including the use of artificial intelligence and digital learning tools to enhance academic guidance, communication, and student engagement in online and bilingual environments.

Dr. Argüello’s work extends to faculty mentoring and development, where she supports the transition of faculty roles from traditional dissertation supervision to practice-based research mentoring. She has designed training, resources, and frameworks to ensure faculty effectiveness in online, bilingual, and applied doctoral contexts, contributing to program quality and instructional innovation at scale.

As a scholar-practitioner, Dr. Argüello’s research agenda centers on academic advising and mentoring for nontraditional and bilingual graduate students, leadership in educational organizations, and innovation in higher education. Her recent scholarship explores the integration of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies in teaching, learning, and student support systems. She has authored peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and has presented her work at national and international conferences.

Dr. Argüello teaches graduate courses in Organizational Leadership and Academic Writing in both English and Spanish modalities. She serves as a dissertation chair, committee member, and Strategic Research Project mentor, guiding doctoral students in the development of applied research that addresses complex, real-world challenges in educational and organizational settings.

Her service contributions include participation in institutional governance, accreditation, and research compliance processes, including her role as an alternate Institutional Review Board (IRB) representative. Through her administrative, teaching, and scholarly work, Dr. Argüello contributes to advancing innovative, inclusive, and practice-oriented models of graduate education.

Dr. Argüello holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, a Master of Business Administration, a Doctor of Education, a graduate certificate in Evaluation and Assessment, and a postdoctoral credential in Qualitative Research with an emphasis on Data Analysis.
