Accepting Students

Available projects

I am PI of an NIH-funded grant examining the measurement of interoceptive functioning for the prediction of eating disorders. I am presently accepting students who are quantitatively oriented and wish to pursue a deep dive into measurement validity of psychological constructs.

Personal profile

About

Dr. Mensinger is an applied quantitative health psychologist. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Clinical and School Psychology. Her current research bridges psychophysiology, embodiment science, and health equity, with a focus on interoception, heart rate variability (HRV) biofeedback, and the prevention and treatment of eating disorders as well as other stress-related illnesses and mental health concerns impacted by interoceptive functioning and regulation of the autonomic nervous system. Broadly speaking, her work focuses on embodied well-being and how digital health tools (e.g., mobile HRV biofeedback) can be widely implemented to enhance embodied well-being.  Chronic exposure to traumatic stress, weight bias and stigma, and structural barriers in healthcare affect embodied well-being—particularly in marginalized populations. Dr. Mensinger's work aims to increase access to digital health tools to address the impact of chronic stressors and structural barriers to healthcare.  Methodologically, she specializes in measurement theory and scale validation, longitudinal modeling, and the investigation of mechanisms and moderators of change in behavioral health interventions.
