About

Kelley L. Davis, Ph.D., is an associate professor of Microbiology in the College of Allopathic Medicine at Nova Southeastern University.  She has a joint appointment with the College of Osteopathic Medicine as associate professor of Public Health.  Dr. Davis has been a trainer for the Institute for Disaster and Emergency Preparedness since 2006 and is considered an authority in chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear weapons, and explosives (CBRNE). She is a spokesperson for recognition, diagnosis, and treatment of victims in mass casualty and mass care events.  She lectures in the public health program on topics related to Presidential Directives regarding BioSense, BioWatch, and biological weapons in general.  Dr. Davis teaches courses in virology, immunology, and bacteriology, with emphasis on the medical aspects of infectious disease for students in the medical, public health, and other allied health fields.  Dr. Davis presents at national and international conferences on topics related to CBRNE and disaster health and preparedness.  Her recognition as a leader in this field led to her association with CBAP.

Dr. Davis has done research in infectious disease related to mycoplasmas for her doctoral work at the University of Missouri Medical School.  She was recognized by the Mycoplasmology Division of the American Society for Microbiology in 1998 for outstanding research.  She has a particular interest in epidemiology and public health and health issues related to homeland security and disaster preparedness.

Prior to her university affiliation, Dr. Davis worked in law enforcement.  She has combined her experiences in law enforcement with her microbiology background to become a leader in the field of toxic substance mitigation and response and disaster and emergency preparedness.
