Teaching

Dr. Martin teaches in the Professional DPT curriculum in courses such as Gender-Specific Health Issues and Biomechanics/Kinesiology. She also assists in courses in the Musculoskeletal, Anatomy, and Prosthetics and Orthotics curriculum. Dr. Martin was an adjunct professor in the NSU physical therapy department from 2014 until transitioning to full-time faculty in 2024.

 

Areas of Practice

Dr. Martin’s primary areas of practice are orthopedics and geriatrics. She has practiced as a physical therapist since 2001, in outpatient physical therapy clinics, home health care, and skilled nursing facilities, treating patients with orthopedic and post-operative conditions, sports rehab, gait and balance issues, and young adults and youth athletes.

 

Professional Activity and Service

Dr. Martin is a member of the APTA and serves on the Committee of Content Experts for the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties, creating and editing items for the Orthopedic Certified Specialist Board Examination. She is also a manuscript-reviewer for Physiotherapy Theory and Practice.

Dr. Martin currently serves on the Committee for Student Progress in the DPT program. She has also mentored numerous students as clinical instructor and served as site coordinator for clinical education during her years in clinical practice
