Dr. Carbone’s scholarly and professional work is situated at the intersection of higher education leadership, regulatory compliance, organizational governance, educator preparation, and institutional accountability. With more than 20 years of experience in post-secondary education, she serves as Director of Licensure and Compliance and Associate Professor in the College of Education and School of Criminal Justice at Nova Southeastern University. In this capacity, she provides strategic oversight for professional licensure compliance, state authorization, and accreditation-related initiatives, working collaboratively with senior administrators, faculty, legal counsel, and state regulatory agencies to support institutional alignment with complex and evolving federal and state requirements. Her background spans higher education administration, faculty leadership, teaching across multiple modalities, administrative service, scholarship, and industry, informing a multidisciplinary perspective on policy implementation, organizational change, governance structures, and strategic decision-making.
Dr. Carbone’s research agenda examines organizational leadership, higher education policy, professional licensure and state authorization, regulatory compliance, and emerging issues shaping colleges and universities. Her scholarship is particularly concerned with how institutions interpret and respond to dynamic regulatory environments while advancing transparency, accountability, continuous improvement, and student-centered outcomes. She supports doctoral candidates as a dissertation chair and committee member and teaches in the M.S. in Leadership program, drawing on experience in online, hybrid, and face-to-face learning environments. Her broader scholarly interests include organizational resilience, strategic leadership, adaptive systems, wellness, adaptive yoga, and the integration of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, within higher education.
Through her teaching, research, scholarship, service, and administrative leadership, Dr. Carbone seeks to advance evidence-informed approaches that strengthen leadership capacity, institutional effectiveness, organizational performance, innovation, and well-being.
