Dr. Maureen O’Hara has been on faculty at NSU since 2008. She has designed, implemented, and taught classes in writing for the masters of health science and doctor of health science programs.
She has over 25 years of experience as a physician assistant and has worked in internal medicine; geriatrics; emergency medicine; and orthopedics, specializing in amputations for diabetic and dysvascular patients.
In addition to her degrees in health science, she has a master’s degree in the teaching of English. Dr. O’Hara was one of the writing consultants for the writing center. She has published in peer-reviewed journals and has been an invited speaker nationally and internationally. Current areas of interest for research include diabetic foot infections/amputations, the writing process, anthropomorphism, and plagiarism.
She lives in a small town (population 2,500) in rural northern Monterey County, California, with her three dogs and three-plus cats.
