About
Rita Shea-Van Fossen is a Professor of Management in the H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship at Nova Southeastern University. She also served as the Assistant Dean of Assurance of Learning and Undergraduate Affairs from 2017 to December 2019.
Before joining the faculty at NSU in Fall 2015, Dr. Shea was Associate Professor of Management at Ramapo College of New Jersey. Prior to her academic career, Dr. Shea’s eighteen-year corporate career included consulting for Pricewaterhouse Coopers (formally Coopers & Lybrand), where she worked in the firm’s emerging business services group, and senior financial leadership positions at American Red Cross, Sands Hotel and Casino, and Insurance Auto Auctions. Dr. Shea-Van Fossen was a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Pennsylvania.
Dr. Shea-Van Fossen teaches various management courses including Organizational Behavior, Strategic Management, and Change Management. In 2013, the New Jersey Policy Research Organization Foundation and New Jersey Business Magazine recognized Dr. Shea-Van Fossen’s teaching for Excellence in the Business School Classroom.
Dr. Shea-Van Fossen is an award winning researcher who explores change and challenge among individuals and organizations, in addition to her scholarship in management education and issues within higher education. Her research has been published in the Organization Management Journal, Journal of Applied Research in Higher Education, Journal of Behavioral and Applied Management, and Harvard's Case Study collection. Dr. Shea-Van Fossen frequently presents her research at national and international conferences. The New York Times, Wall Street Journal online, and The Atlantic have spotlighted Dr. Shea-Van Fossen’s research work.
Dr. Shea-Van Fossen has a B.S. in Accounting from Rutgers University, a M.B.A. in General and Strategic Management from Temple University, and a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management from Baruch College and Graduate Center at the City University of New York (CUNY).
