Dr.  Mukherjee has a Ph.D. in Decision and Information Systems from Carnegie Mellon University and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. Prior to joining NSU, he was with the Department of Computer Information Systems at Baruch College, City University of New York. His publications appear in journals such as Management Science, Journal of the American Statistical Association, IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, IEEE, Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, Discrete Applied Mathematics, Journal of Systems and Software, Operations Research Letters, Optimization Letters, Pattern Recognition Letters, Environmental Management, Journal of Organizational Computing, and Annals of Operations Research. Sumitra enjoys wildlife photography in national parks, particularly in the Serengeti ecosystem. He also enjoys exploring coral reefs.
