Description
The Foundation's initiative, Value of Children, Families, and Care, was designed to: (1) support narrative infrastructure, development, and deployment about the value of children, families, and caregiving through six to eight anchor organizations; (2) support anchor organizations' efforts with narrative monitoring and additional media strategy; (3) amplify long-term narrative work through shorter-term, tactical narrative-change projects; and (4) assess progress and outcomes with a bundled evaluation. This grant will fund two seasons of White Picket Fence, a podcast produced by the Wonder Media Network and hosted by Julie Kohler. White Picket Fence socializes new economic and family frameworks in order to shift public understanding about the structural issues that impact how some families are seen as deserving and some are not. The podcast will, over seasons 5 and 6, offer listeners an alternative vision for the U.S. social contract--one that puts children's deservingness of health and wellbeing, not parents' rights, at the center. Deliverables will include two seasons of six episodes each--a total of 12 episodes. Wonder Media and RWJF's Healthy Children and Families (HCF) portfolio will learn more about effective approaches to producing, marketing, and growing podcasts--an effective, but crowded medium. Wonder Media Network is the production company that will complete the work; Shared Ascent Fund is Wonder Media Network's fiscal sponsor.
