Abstract

We have designed, constructed, and demonstrated use of an inexpensive instrument for introducing students to capillary electrophoresis in teaching laboratories. This instrument provides sufficient sensitivity to determine the mass of riboflavin present in a nutritional supplement tablet. The instrument could be used to demonstrate CE in a course, or perhaps be constructed by a small group of students as a special project over the course of several weeks.
