Abstract
It has been shown that additional protein consumption results in a significantly lower body-weight regain after weight loss because of its effects on satiety, diet-induced thermogenesis, and energy inefficiency (i.e., the metabolic advantage). Thus, macronutrient substitution of carbohydrate with protein may serve as an effective strategy in producing favorable body-composition alterations.
