Abstract
This chapter includes two moving statements from Dr. Scott Poland, a man who is often first on the scene in response to school crises. Dr. Poland counsels those who have witnessed school violence and attempts to ameliorate the resulting trauma. We have included his statements because they are to the point, yet very caring. The existence of violence in schools, once considered the safest places for children to be during the day, is frightening and real.
