    Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine CPR retention of the revised and simplified 2011 American Heart Association Guidelines (AHA) by Physical Therapy (PT) and Optometry (OD) students 6-12 months after completing initial CPR training and conclude if retention is different than studies indicate on the pre 2011 guidelines. Results showed no significant difference in retention over time between the old and revised versions of the test. This study suggests that even with the revised content and teaching methodology, more frequent training than the required every 2 years may be indicated.
