Dementias and Associate Mood Disorders in Long-Term Care: an Interprofessional Approach

    Abstract

    This session will discuss the pathophysiology evaluation of Alzheimer’s dementia, other dementias, and their associated mood disorders with current diagnostic approaches, and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved and off-label medications most commonly used. Approaches to initiating, titrating, tapering, and switching pharmacotherapy accordingly to each case will be discussed. Presenters will introduce clinical cases, presented by a clinician and a pharmacist as part of the interprofessional approach.
