Abstract

This chapter covers the procedural steps and decision-making frames for transcribing dependent music information layers. The first section covers procedures for transcribing dependent layers associated with individual notes and short patterns. The second section then covers procedures for transcribing dependent layers associated with phrases and sections. Finally, the third section covers a roadmap for practitioners to transcribe dependent layers while ensuring an effective workflow and transcription consistency. The section activities help learners transcribe dependent layers as relevant in their respective contexts. In summary, this chapter offers guidance for practitioners to enhance transcribed foundational layers with additional performance instructions and nuance.
