Abstract

DNA by Dennis Kelly is a contemporary play about a group of teenagers who accidentally kill a classmate and cover it up, leading to a dark, binding friendship and exploring themes of morality, groupthink, and human nature. Originally commissioned by the National Theatre, it's a popular GCSE text in the UK, known for its shocking, poignant, and humorous take on peer pressure, bullying, and the capacity for both cruelty and cooperation in youth.
