Abstract

This volume is the final part of Donal O’Sullivan’s edition of the three collections of Irish harp music made by Edward Bunting (1773-1843). Parts I to VI, dealing with the 1796 and 1809 collections, were published by O’Sullivan in various issues of the Journal of the Irish Folk Song Society between 1927 and 1939. The present volume deals with the music in the third and final collection, The Ancient Music of Ireland , which appeared in 1840, with over 150 pieces along with copious notes and background material.
