Abstract
This pilot study highlights the importance of collaboration and communication among senior nursing students enrolled in a Population Health and Disease Management course. It emphasizes how these skills are crucial for caring for clients and collaborating with other health professionals in vulnerable population settings.
The purpose of this pilot study was to capture students' experiences in caring for clients and collaborating with other health professionals. The objectives include developing health promotion activities tailored to the age, developmental level, linguistic responsiveness, and cultural background of the patients.
After the student’s experiences with the patients and other healthcare providers, anonymous surveys were administered. The survey captured the students’ evaluation of their collaboration with relevant stakeholders and their patient interactions.
The findings revealed that these collaborative efforts enhanced the student’s learning experiences and improved their clinical judgment. This preparation is crucial for their future roles as professional nurses.
The emphasis on culturally, developmentally, and linguistically responsive communication strategies was key to achieving positive health outcomes. The study suggests that these strategies are essential for promoting positive health outcomes, highlighting the importance of such approaches in nursing education and practice.
