    Abstract

    Excerpt

Although Karen James Chopra considers herself a career counselor, I think it would be equally appropriate to consider her a "creativity instigator." After all, she helps her clients get beyond the analytic reasoning of their rational minds, accessing the wisdom of their emotions and recognizing the importance of listening to their desires. I appreciated her exhaustive search for meaningful themes in the career choices of her clients and their families, her brainstorming exercises, and her commitment to creating a safe setting for inchoate, sometimes identity-challenging, ideas to emerge and take hold. I can imagine that a client like Ron would feel elated at being helped to discover a new, more fitting career.
