How Intelligent are Organicity Scales of the MMPI?

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The WAIS Verbal IQs of 16 psychiatric patients (mean age 53.3 yrs) were not related to 3 measures of organicity derived from the MMPI: the Caudality and Organicity scales developed by J. S. Wiggins (1966) and the Psychiatric-Organic scale of C. G. Watson and D. Plemel (see record 1979-25143-001 ). However, Performance and Full-Scale IQs were significantly related to the Caudality scale. The Caudality scale may represent a measure of nonverbal intelligence that is sensitive to brain changes. (9 ref)
