Information literacy initiatives by business, government and colleges

Two major societal changes have occurred within the past quarter century. The first was the computer revolution which resulted in adding a component of information literacy to the generally agreed upon basic communication and numeric literacies. The second, and more global was the Internet or World Wide Web (WWW) revolution which has required revisiting and reassessing the Information Literacy standards formulated in the late 1980s.
