Abstract

Brian de Breffny, author of The Churches and Abbeys of Ireland and editor of The Irish World and Ireland: A Cultural Encyclopedia , has recently brought out the first issue of what appears to be a very promising journal, Irish Arts Review (Vol. 1, No. 1, 1984, $5, Eton Enterprises, Ltd., Belfast), subtitled “An International Quarterly Magazine for Connoisseurs.” In fact, the magazine is basically an Irish version of The Connoisseur or Apollo , and it would have been called Irish Connoisseur except for the possibility of litigation by the editors of The Connoisseur.
