Measuring Occlusal Bite Forces with a Force Sensing Resistor

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

Bite forces have been a subject of study for the last five decades, due to their relation with disfunctional habits that may cause dental and muscular pain, tooth wear, noise and limit the mouth opening span, with consequences on food ingest, face aesthetics and even the mood of people. Quantative determination of bite forces may help evaluate the effectiveness of dental treatments. In this work we show a device capable of measuring bite forces dynamically, based on a force sensing resistor jacketed with dental impression material
