Abstract
Analyzes of Mossbauer Fe**5**7 spectra have been made for Li//0//. //5Fe//2//. //5// minus //xCr//xO//4 ferrite samples for 0 less than equivalent to x less than equivalent to 2. 0 with x varying in steps of 0. 2. It shows presence of hyperfine field at A and B site for Cr**3** plus concentration (x) up to 1. 2. A ferromagnetic relaxation occurs when x is increased to 1. 6 which is followed by paramagnetic transition when x approaches 2. 0. The decrease in the internal magnetic field with increase in Cr**3** plus concentration has been explained from suptransferred hyperfine field whereas relaxation effect in Mossbauer spectra has been explained on the basis of domain wall displacements. Infrared spectra of these ferrites show absorption bands in the range 400-800 cm** minus **1. The variations in absorption bands of ir spectra with increase in Cr**3** plus concentration indicate presence of ordering and disordering of cations and possible presence of Fe**2** plus ions.
