Abstract

The purpose of the mini-session presentation is to explore the application of Motivational Interviewing (MI) as an approach to clinical counseling. Do you work with resistant individuals? Looking for an approach that effectively minimizes and guides clients to positive behavior change? Motivational Interviewing effectively increases positive outcomes and client satisfaction by using specific techniques in assisting clients reduce ambivalence and increase commitment to change. This presentation will illustrate how MI techniques can be applied in the practice of school and mental health counseling.
