Neurotherapy for the Brain Injured Child

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Because brain injury does not disrupt a specific area of the brain, rehabilitation efforts should be directed toward the interrupted functional system within a complex neuropsychological pattern. In diagnosing a patient, level of performance relative to age, history, and demographic factors is considered, as well as hemispheric-controlled performance. The emphasis in the rehabilitation program is on individual deficits, and its goal is to re-form the interrupted functional systems and those that have failed to develop. Efforts are made to integrate the several facets of neurological, educational, and emotional functions.
