Organization of the first information literacy workshop

The Infolit (Information Literacy) Internet Workshop was undertaken as an experiment. The sponsorship by the IEEE NCAC provided a necessary aura of credibility. The experiment was moderately successful. Over 1,000 visits were recorded and valuable lessons were learned. Presentations to introduce an online dialog were made during three sessions at Capitol College on November 3, 2000. The topic was announced as Information Literacy: The Workplace Requirement in the Twenty First Century. For brevity purposes, the workshop will hence be referred to by its development name: Infolit. The Infolit Internet Workshop was organized in four categories: Information Literacy in General, Workplace Requirements, Paths to Information Literacy, and The Emerging Role of Teachers. There were three presentations and/or papers in each category. These are described below.
