Petroleum resins: an overview

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Tackifiers are being used primarily to enhance tack. These additives are generally categorized based on chemical nature into three classes: rosins, modified rosins, and rosin derivatives; hydrocarbon resins; and terpene resins. This review focuses on petroleum resins with emphasis on the synthetic procedures to prepare them. Topics discussed include petroleum resins, general properties, testing and characterization, production, and uses and market.
