Abstract

This paper focuses on the racial differences in response to antihypertensive drugs, with an emphasis on the comparative efficacy of verapamil in black and white patients with essential hypertension (EHT). A brief review of the epidemiology and pathophysiology of EHT in black and white races is also presented.
