Abstract

The reliability and the clinical effectiveness of the standardized Greek version of the Luria-Nebraska Neuropsychological Battery were assessed in a sample of 50 brain damaged and 50 control subjects matched for age, education, handedness, sex, and socioeconomic status. There were highly significant differences between the mean scale scores of the two groups on all LNNB scales. Inter-rater and split-half reliabilities were also highly significant for all scales. The use of objective clinical rules for predicting brain damage from LNNB scales profiles yielded results suggesting a combined high sensitivity, high specificity, and high predictive power of the Greek LNNB. Overall, the results both establish the high reliability and clinical effectiveness of the Greek LNNB and add to the effectiveness of the LNNB as a neuropsychological instrument that could be profitably used in culturally different settings.
