Abstract

Ruthless! is a satirical musical with book and lyrics by Joel Paley and music by Marvin Laird, known for its campy humor and spoofs of Broadway shows like Gypsy and Mame, as well as films like The Bad Seed. The story follows 8-year-old Tina Denmark, a sociopathic child prodigy who will do anything, including murder, to get the lead role in her school play, revealing a dark secret about her parentage. The show, which premiered Off-Broadway in 1992, is famous for its all-female (or "sort of") cast and has had numerous productions, including a West End run.
