Salvador Minuchin, MD: Innovator and Challenger

    Abstract

    Salvador Minuchin, MD, was one of the most influential figures in the field of family therapy. Upon the recent date of his passing, he left an immense legacy to the family therapy community. He created the Structural family therapy school of therapy, which was one of the most utilized models in the field. However, what was even more significant was his therapeutic style, which developed out of his various life experiences. This introduction to the special section explores the connection between Minuchin's life and his theoretical and clinical style as a family therapist and concludes with a brief discussion of the articles in the special section.
