Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to propose a dynamic model where supply chain strategy is leveraged to drive business strategy that will mitigate risk and stabilize operations during times of disruption.Design/methodology/approach – This study included a systematic review of literature relating to pre and post COVID-19 supply chain design. An analysis of the literature provides a foundational understanding of past and present supply chain models used to develop and propose a conceptual framework.Findings – Firms’ business, organizational, and IS strategy should directly align with the overarching supply chain strategy, supply chain network design, and supply chain IT design. The Extended Resource-Based View (ERBV) by Teece (2007) was foundational to the redesign. The process included the identification of dynamic supply chain management capabilities and sustainable supply chain performance as well as weaknesses brought about the COVID-19 pandemic.Originality/value – The proposition makes use of a cyclical process to continuously reevaluate and align business strategies and supply chain strategies in response to market disruption and conditions.Paper type Research/Conceptual paper
