This lecture describes the life of an illegal immigrant to the United States, including a discussion of the paths taken by undocumented immigrants entering the country and the direction their lives take in the United States. Dixon will examine immigrants from various regions and present a composite of the “typical” immigrant life, including employment, living circumstances, and relations between illegal immigrants and the various levels of government with which they come into contact. Finally, the talk will explore recent changes in immigration laws and their impact on the lives of recent and long-time undocumented residents.
