Abstract
A proposal is a written request for approval. It is the candidate’s way of telling the reader, “Here is the problem, here is how I plan to solve it, and here is how I propose to arrive at the solution.” The paper addresses a proposal that precedes a master’s thesis or a doctoral dissertation, but the advice contained herein is equally valuable to people seeking grants or contracts. Guidelines are presented for a three chapter model: Introduction, Review of the Literature, and Methodology. A comprehensive bibliography is provided.
