Arkene Levy, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Medical Education and Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine (NSU MD) in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA. Her research interests currently include health disparities and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) curricular innovation. Through collaboration with the South Florida community, she is passionate about promoting health equity and maintaining an inclusive and equitable college climate at NSU MD. Her recent book “Cases in DEI for the health professions educator” highlights strategies for integrating DEI into health professions education. Her currently funded projects include A Florida Blue Foundation grant for opioid abuse prevention awareness in at-risk youth in South Florida and a Health Foundation of South Florida grant aimed at advancing equitable access to health and well-being. Dr. Levy is also a two-time recipient of the International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE) curricular innovation grant, the first (2020) focused on building an LGBTQ Proficiency curriculum for medical students and the most recent (2022) focuses on developing a toolkit for mitigating the imposter phenomenon in diverse medical student populations. She most recently worked with the American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC) to develop a toolkit to help medical students build their presentation skills.
