Abstract
Standard, guidelines, and best practices are a hierarchy of clinical practice. Standards are the foundation of clinical procedures, where practice guidelines are recommendations on how to perform clinical activities, and best practices outline steps for optimal clinical care. Our professional organizations have created evidence-based practice guidelines and best practices. But overall, there is a lack of foundational standards in audiology. Audiology Practice Standards Organization (APSO) has been working to establish clinical standards for audiology. In this presentation differences between standards, guidelines, and best practices will be further discussed along with updates on the development of new clinical practice standards.
