    Abstract

As the first solo work by White in the mainstream press, Maps of Narrative Practice makes White’s ideas more readily accessible, bringing clarity to the wide range of ideas about what narrative therapy looks and feels like and how it can be practiced. White organizes the book around a central metaphor—maps—which provide guides to the many possible routes that can be taken with clients, as contrasted with prescriptive techniques that therapists should employ in taking clients toward prespecified goals.
