Abstract
This chapter covers the areas of procedural considerations, systems thinking, and digital literacy as they apply to music transcription. The first section discusses procedural guidelines to achieve a results-oriented workflow. The second section then discusses a systematic approach to music information retrieval for transcribing sheet music with a degree of control and consistency. Finally, the third section illuminates the field of digital literacy and its impact on music transcription workflows. The section activities help learners self-evaluate their setup, process, and pertinent skills to identify areas of development. In summary, this chapter offers several strategies to establish an effective transcription workflow that prioritizes quality and consistency.
