This capstone experience with The Institute for Sex, Intimacy, and Occupational Therapy (ISIOT) focused on education for occupational therapy clinicians, administration, and program development. The researcher provided administrative support to the Institute and to its Founder, Dr. Kathryn Ellis, and created additional continuing education (CE) opportunities for occupational therapy clinicians. A literature review was conducted to ascertain the current gaps in knowledge, and an informal needs assessment was also conducted to determine practical applications. The program developed included a new continuing education course focused on addressing the sexuality and intimacy needs of military veterans and active-duty members within occupational therapy practice. This CE opportunity includes assessment, intervention, documentation, and strategies to address the topic of sexuality as well as suggestions for increasing the comfort level of the practitioner and their client.
