Abstract

Purpose: To compare and contrast professional role behavior of physical therapists regarding membership in the FPTA. Subjects: A total of 128 licensed physical therapists throughout the State of Florida, 73 were members and 55 were nonmembers. Method:L A four page questionnaire was sent to 350 physical therapists which included questions on demographics, why or why not they attended the FPTA conference and business meetings, and opinions on the FPTA. Cross tabulations, mean, SD, chi square (alpha=.05), ranks, percentages and a linear regression analysis (r=0.721) was used to analyze responses. Findings: Members and nonmembers are aware not enough people are involved in the FPTA. Nonmembers exhibited uncertainty when asked opinions related to the FPTA. Membership in the FPTA increased as years of experience increased.
