    Abstract

    The aim of this Capstone Review paper is to provide an overview of the problem of invasive species within marine and estuarine communities and to discuss plans to address the problem through regulation, technology and education. Section 2.0 discusses what is known of the ecology behind the process of invasion. Section 3.0 reviews the vectors by which species are transported. Section 4.0 includes eighteen examples of invasive species problems. Section 5.0 includes current and potential management strategies, and Section 6.0 discusses the status of legal and regulatory methods to control the spread and transport of species around the globe.
